CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE LAST AVENGER

RELEASED FEB 29th

MY POSTER

Sky and Carter had been pushing something like this for months. Eventually, a script was developed after Sky met Nick Worthley at the YMCA. Worthley is an active duty service member in the US Navy and was interested in bringing this to life. I had lunch with the director, Sky Deuel, where we further developed the script and began planning how to make this happen. At the time, this was our biggest set, with around 30 people coming out. Many played the goons that Captain America worked through on his way to Crossbones, but we also had dedicated BTS and Stills photographers and additional grips to take the load off McCue. An original score was made, inspired by the great Marvel themes. Osorio and Lundgren worked in tandem to create music that elevated the whole film to another level. Post-production was a more significant task than previously. The music took time to develop, we had a VFX shot to master, and the final color went through many versions. Sky sequenced the film and did sound design and motion graphics while I took on color. I managed the final node tree, doing color work, glow, blurs, and flicker effects over the final sequence. There was some debate between Sky and me about what the final product should look like. He graciously took my adjustments to most sections as slow… I wanted to darken and punch it all up, whereas he preferred a cleaner image. In the end, after countless versions and getting input from my girlfriend and Captain America himself, we reached a middle point. This project pushed us all in new ways but was a secondary project to an upcoming unnamed project… So long cap I’m sure we’ll meet again soon.
